NASA is working together with Tom Cruise to shoot a film in space on the International Space Station.
NASA’s Jim Bridenstine revealed the news on Twitter, writing, “NASA is excited to work with Tom Cruise on a film aboard the Space Station! We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make NASA’s ambitions plans a reality.”
According to Deadline, a lot of work still needs to be discussed before liftoff, and currently the crew is involving Elon Musk’s SpaceX as part of the plan.
There aren’t many details about the involvement of SpaceX, but it makes sense as the company announced earlier this year that it will be working with Houston-based startup Axiom to fly three individuals to the ISS.
The mission is set to launch in the second half of 2021, using the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule.
