Knowing Elon Musk and Grimes and how they called their baby X Æ A-12 Musk, it comes as no surprise that there’s no one true way to pronounce their son’s name.
While the SpaceX founder divulged in a recent interview that one should read “X Æ” as, “just X, the letter X, and then the Æ is pronounced Ash,” his partner doesn’t seem to agree with the “Ash” pronunciation.
Grimes later replied to a question on Instagram that “X Æ” is simply pronounced as “just X, like the letter X,” followed by “A.I., like how you [say] the letter A then I.”
The singer previously shared that the “AI” sound refers to artificial intelligence, as well as the Japanese or Mandarin word for love.
Whether it’s X-Ash A 12 or X-A-I A 12, it still won’t ease the confusion the world has towards the name. The couple already faces a problem with registering “X Æ A-12” in the state of California where they reside, since special characters aren’t allowed as names.
