Following protests across the US over the tragic death of George Floyd, PANTONE has released powerful posts highlighting the Black Lives Matter movement.
The color institute has released a post featuring color swatches of different skin tones, from warm beige to dark chocolate. The image aims to show “that being an ally comes in all colors,” and directs social media users to ways they can help.
The company also shared a special concept shade titled ‘Human Being’, created by @fuzzedupbear. The artworks shows the arm of a black person with PANTONE’s recognizable frame around it. “TXT-Floyd to 55156,” the picture reads, referencing George Floyd, who died in the hands of a police officer.
Most importantly, PANTONE is also using its platform in hopes of facilitating change. Its latest post announced that the company “stands proudly with the global design community, friends, and family in the crucial fight against inequality and injustice.” These words are plastered against a dark brown shade, with a description that reads, “PANTONE stands with the black community.”
