The coronavirus pandemic has affected many creatives from different disciplines, driving a team of seven organizations in the US to launch Artist Relief to offer support to those in need. This makes it the first-ever US national, multi-disciplinary relief fund that goes directly to creatives. The fund sums up to a total of US$10 million and it will be distributed directly to creative professionals through US$5,000 grants.
However, this isn’t the only organization providing aid to artists seeking support. Vulture has rounded up several funding groups who are helping out creatives struggling amid the virus crisis. Here are some of them.
FCA Emergency Grants COVID-19 Fund
The Foundation for Contemporary Arts (FCA) has launched a new fund to support experimental artists. Exhibitions and performances have been delayed or canceled due to the pandemic, and the fund offers help to those affected by the unanticipated impact. Learn more right here.
Rauschenberg Emergency Grants
The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation teamed up with the New York Foundation for the Arts to provide one-time grants of up to US$5,000 for unprecedented health emergencies. The fund will be available visual and media artists, as well as choreographers who are US citizens or permanent residents in the US.
Artists’ Charitable Fund
The fund is mainly for painters and sculptors to help pay for emergency healthcare. It will cover a portion of the medical bill, which will be paid directly to the health provider. Head on here for more information.
Jazz Foundation of America
The organization has set up a COVID-19 Musicians’ Emergency Fund to support musicians, as well as their families, with day-to-day expenses. Musicians whose incomes have been affected due to the crisis can contact an advocate via the foundation’s website to learn more about the fund.
PEN America
The organization is providing one-time grants up to US$1,000 to professional writers in emergency financial need. Non-members of the organization are also invited to apply for the fund. Those who have attained the funding will be given a one-year complimentary membership to PEN America.
