Kanye West has announced an unexpected partnership with clothing brand Gap.
Following the news, the rapper left a handwritten message on the front of the Gap store in Chicago’s Michigan Avenue. It reads, “Hi Chicago. It’s Ye. This is the Gap store I used to shop at when I would drive my Nissan from the South Side. So blessed. I put my heart into the color palette and every detail.”
He also told fans that he loves Tron, the sci-fi film starring Jeff Bridges, a computer programmer who was transported into a mainframe computer. This is probably a hint at what to expect from the apparel partnership.
West additonally tweeted their collaborative logo, which features Gap’s signature navy blue background against the letters “YZY.” The branding is housed in a quirky asymmetric square-shaped logo with rounded ends.
The YEEZY x Gap line is set to hit stores and online in early 2021.
