Scent has a powerful way of evoking memories, and if there’s one for men that defines those deeply confusing years in high school, it’d be Axe spray. Lots of it. Now there’s more kick in it to truly punch Gen Z males in the guts when they look back at their TikTok days a little ways down the road.
Lynx, the name that Axe goes by in the UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and China, has spooned up a partnership with the notorious Marmite to roll out a new body spray and body wash in the UK that will have you smelling like someone’s breakfast or doom.
The new products, part of Lynx’s Africa range, sport notes of lavandin, green herbs, and white moss, as well as sandalwood and cedarwood. Not forgetting a generous whiff of the yeast extract spread.
The Marmite range might actually be effective in this crucial period, when social distancing is strongly advised—and the creators don’t mind it eliciting revulsions one bit. “By combining two iconic legends that have shaped dating and breakfast culture across the nation,” said Lynx brand manager James Brooks in a statement. “We have created a product like no other that is sure to get lovers and haters spreading the news.”
“With the controversial nature of the spread, [we] believe it also might help in keeping the haters at arm’s length,” he teased.
As if fitting in high school isn’t already tricky enough, the contentious body spray and wash are now available in the UK at pretty affordable prices. The spray retails for £3.65 (US$4.50), while the body wash is priced at £2.84 (US$3.50).
