Ari Aster’s 2019 horror film Midsommar is now being released with a 171-minute director’s cut featuring Martin Scorsese’s introduction.
The collector’s edition includes a 62-page book created by Ragnar Persson, whose illustrations were included in the film. Persson took inspiration from murals in Sweden to do up the art, which was painted, drawn, and stitched onto various props in the film.
“A couple of years ago, I watched a first film called Hereditary by a director named Ari Aster,” Scorsese wrote. “Right from the start, I was impressed.”
The new collector’s edition of Midsommar can be preordered via A24’s website, and will be shipped by 20 July 2020.
