Twitter users have been begging for the social media platform to make the ‘Edit’ button a reality, but the company has stayed away from developing that feature.
While users have been arguing that it is necessary for an option to allow quick changes to typos, CEO Jack Dorsey responded in early January, saying, “The answer is no.”
However, this dream might just come true, as Twitter has announced that it could be providing an edit button on one condition: all users have to wear a mask.
“You can have an edit button when everyone wears a mask,” Twitter announced to its fans.
The tweet caught the attention of a lot of users, and inspired heaps of hilarious reactions and memes as well. “An edit button is a terrible idea and will lead to people changing their tweets once they are retweeted/quote tweeted by someone to make it seem like they shared something awful and then used to try to cancel them,” one Twitter user said.
“It’s practically impossible to make everyone wear a mask which means we won’t get an edit button,” one weighed in.
Other users shared amusing memes, such as a photo of Donald Trump with a massive face mask tan line on his face, while another slapped a mask on literally the entire Earth.
