Dior kicked off Paris Fashion Week with a mystical short film, titled Le Mythe Dior, featuring its Autumn/Winter 2020 haute couture pieces in miniature size.
As the coronavirus pandemic has put a pause on physical fashion shows, Dior’s artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri decided to pepper fantasy into its digital showcase.
Directed by Italian filmmaker Matteo Garrone, the short film sees a dollhouse traveling through the woods, and viewers soon meet the mystical creatures within the forested grounds.
The doll house featured tiny, scaled versions of couture dresses, which were later worn by woodland nymphs in their full-sized versions. Each of the haute couture pieces was tailored to the height of 40 centimeters (15 inches).
The dreamy film also pays tribute to the Théâtre de la Mode, a 1945 traveling exhibit of small-scale fashion mannequins during World War II.
