Papa John’s Serves Old Spice Some Burn With ‘New Spice Guy’

The unshakeable Old Spice campaigns, possibly the most recognizable ads ever, are now being shoved on the back burner by Papa John’s. Why? Because it’s out with the Old Spice and in with the New Spice.
Papa John’s UK, along with PR agency W Communications, has parodied the unmistakable Old Spice commercials by introducing a ‘New Spice Guy’ to help bring on the heat for its latest spicy pizza range.
Attempting to fill the shoes of beloved Old Spice Man Isiah Mustafa is Love Island winner Luke Trotman, the New Spice Guy.
Trotman starts off in front of a green screen with the familiar “hello ladies” opener, but continues it with, “Hello gentlemen, look at your pizza…” He is quickly interrupted by a booming voice, who declares, “Whoa! That spice is old. Time to turn up the heat.”
In a flash, New Spice Guy loses his shirt and finds himself in a desert and on the back of a camel as a testament to the all-new Hot Amarillo Chilli Base—also available for vegan options—being “hot, very hot.”
“Watch out, Old Spice, there’s a New Spice guy in town!” the pizza chain tweeted.
