Amazon has announced the Amazon Dash Cart, a physical shopping cart that knows what you’re purchasing in stores.
The Amazon Dash Cart can fix up to two full grocery bags, and comes with a touchscreen device to calculate the total bill of your items. If you remove any item, it will utilize “computer vision algorithms and sensor fusion” to immediately remove the price of the item you have just taken out of the cart.
The cart can be activated through a QR code on the Amazon app, which will let you sign in and access shopping lists created through Alexa. Users can also scan their coupons through the touchscreen.
Shoppers can then make a beeline to a cashier-less lane, and their Amazon accounts will be charged accordingly. The physical Amazon stores will continue to have both cashier and cashier-free payment options.
