Adobe has delivered emergency patches for security vulnerabilities found in Photoshop, Prelude, and Bridge.
Mat Powell, a researcher with Trend Micro’s Zero Day Initiative, initially discovered 12 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) in Adobe’s apps, such as Photoshop, Bridge and Prelude.
However, Adobe immediately started patching these bugs, which it described as “out-of-bounds read and write vulnerabilities.” These bugs could cause crashes, exploit sensitive information, or even allow someone to generate arbitrary code on Windows devices.
A post on cyber security site Threatpost details the fixes, which are labeled on Adobe’s update log as “Security Updates.”
The good news is that the company has fixed these errors immediately and did not receive any reports of exploits prior to the update. The emergency update reportedly resolved five vulnerabilities in Photoshop and three in Bridge. Adobe also issued patches for the vulnerabilities in the Prelude app, as well.
Those using Photoshop CC 2019 version 20.0.9 or earlier, Photoshop 2020 version 21.2.0 or earlier (for Windows), or Bridge version 10.0.3 or earlier should update to the latest versions “using the instructions referenced in Adobe’s bulletin.”
