Kids aren’t just playing doctor or wearing their parents’ oversized work shoes anymore. These days, they’re fake-slogging it out Dyson’s toy vacuum, and now, roleplaying work from home.
In time for the at-home period during the COVID-19 situation, Fisher-Price hilariously rolled out a ‘My Home Office’ toy set that lets young children reenact adults nodding vacantly and zoning out at Zoom meetings, as well as complaining about how their days don’t start until they’ve had their coffee. It’s a new spin on Take Your Kids to Work day that, turns out, many moms and dads are living for.
The kit, which includes a toy laptop with four fabric “apps,” a smartphone, a headset for important business calls, and a coffee cup for “break time,” quickly became the number-one bestseller on Amazon, according to parenting news site SheKnows. Inadvertently, it has also sold out for now.
My Home Office is one of four brand new roleplaying sets that Fisher-Price has introduced for infants and preschoolers to not only make “playtime more fun,” but also “get parents and caregivers laughing, too” during the work-from-home period. There is also a ‘Baby Biceps’ exercise set so babies can use this time more productively to get their bodies into—the same rotund—shape, along with a ‘Cutest Chef’ kit for little infant home chefs with big culinary dreams, no matter if they’re still teething.
