Keanu Reeves Responds To ‘Matrix’ Being A Trans Story, Which He Never Knew About

Keanu Reeves found out about The Matrix being a transgender allegory about the same time as everyone else, and he actually thinks that it is “cool” how the film’s director Lilly Wachowski, who is transgendered herself, has decided to share this with the franchise’s fans.
In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Reeves revealed that he wasn’t aware about the transgender themes in the Matrix films back then.
However, he added, “I think the Matrix films are profound, and I think that allegorically, a lot of people in different versions of the film can speak to that, and for [Wachowski] to come out and share that with us, I think is cool.”
In the last month, Wachowski confirmed one of the fan theories that the Matrix trilogy, which she wrote and directed with her sister Lana Wachowski, was indeed a transgender analogy.
