The passing of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman at the age of 43 came as a devastating shock to fans.

In an announcement tweet by his family, now Twitter’s most-liked post, it was revealed that Boseman had been diagnosed with stage three colon cancer back in 2016 and battled it out until it progressed to stage four.

The actor rose to international prominence after playing the iconic role of King T’challa, also known as the Black Panther, in the Marvel film Black Panther.

Upon hearing his passing, fellow Marvel stars honored Boseman via emotional posts.

Captain America actor Christ Evans wrote, “I’m absolutely devastated. This is beyond heartbreaking. [Boseman] was special. A true original. He was a deeply committed and constantly curious artist.”

Evans added, “He had so much amazing work still left to create. I’m endlessly grateful for our friendship. Rest in power, King.

Angela Bassett, who starred as Boseman’s mother in Black Panther, shared a touching post about their relationship beyond the film.

“During the premiere party for Black Panther, [Boseman] reminded me of something. He whispered that when I received my honorary degree from Howard University, his alma mater, he was the student assigned to escort me that day,” she revealed.

“And here we were, years later as friends and colleagues, enjoying the most glorious night ever,” she continued in her tribute post.

Several other Marvel actors, including Brie Larson, Tom Holland, and Chris Hemsworth, also remembered Boseman in their posts. Scroll down to read them.
