Twitter user Rob Witts shared a photo of his birthday card from his father on Twitter, and it soon went viral for being the perfect “karmic justice.”
The card Witts received for his 42nd birthday from his father was actually the same “sarky” birthday note that 14-year-old Witts had given his dad 28 years ago.
The original card read, “Hey, Everybody! He’s 42! Of course… We won’t draw attention to it, will we? Happy 42nd birthday, Dad. From Robbie.”
His dad cleverly repurposed the birthday card by switching up minor details. It now included the message, “I guess, if you wait long enough, what goes round comes round.” The last sentence was also edited to read as, “Happy 42nd birthday, Rob. From Dad.”
The tweet garnered the attention of many, amassing over 100,000 likes and almost 10,000 retweets.
Many assumed that the father had kept the card for all these years to purposefully use it for Witts’ 42nd birthday. However, that was not the case. The Twitter user later revealed that his father had found the card recently and decided to amend the card for his birthday.
Take a look at the post below.
OK, full disclosure: I just got off the phone with my mum, and the card was in a box in the loft that they happened to open recently. My dad has *not* been planning this for years! However he is, as many people have observed, a great dad ❤️ pic.twitter.com/goPXWv9wP3
