2020’s flagship iPhones will be “a few weeks” late, as confirmed by Apple itself. True enough, the annual September keynote uncharacteristically kicked off without unveiling smartphones. Fans will most likely see the new iPhone 12 lineup in October.
With a few weeks to spare, iPhone users now have an idea of what the new handsets will be called, if a recent leak is to be believed.
Apple is expected to drop four iPhones at the next launch, with past reports dictating them to be 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch (in two variations), and 6.7-inch.
Leaker @L0vetodream, whose tweets are closely relied upon by tech news sites, has shared that the iPhones will be called “iPhone 12 mini,” “iPhone 12,” “iPhone 12 Pro,” and “iPhone 12 Pro Max.”
While Apple seems to have retained its branding system from last year’s iPhone series, a new addition would be the “mini” title to differentiate between the four smartphones.
The smallest model would be deserving of this name, as it stands to be the tiniest bezel-free iPhone yet.
Specs-wise, all four iPhones are believed to surprisingly feature OLED screens, departing from the use of LCD displays for cheaper iPhones. One of the 6.1-inch iPhones will be part of the mid-tier selection, while the other will be a “Pro” version.
