Facebook is upgrading its messaging services by integrating the Messenger app with Instagram.
Instagram users can opt to merge with Messenger to use both services under one platform. Once it is combined, users can send messages or start video calls with their contacts using both of the apps.
Users can also watch videos from both Facebook Watch and IGTV soon. However, the new Reels feature will be added later on.
Given the concerns over Facebook’s data sharing and privacy, the company clarified that it will “collect information from Instagram and Messenger primarily to provide the service, improve the product experience, and keep people safe and secure.”
Users will still be able to control and restrict those who will be able to message you, and whose messages will be directed to the request section. You can also restrict some users from reaching you completely through both of the apps.
