As Instagram introduces new customizable icons for its 10th birthday, the Messenger app has unveiled what looks to be an Instagram-inspired logo redesign to symbolize more unity between both Facebook services.
A new update by Facebook on Tuesday reveals that Messenger has gotten a fresh dynamic makeover, along with a new default chat color, a gradient icon, and new chat themes like ‘love’ and ‘tie-dye’.
“The new look reflects a shift to the future of messaging – a more dynamic, fun and integrated way to hang out with your favorite people, on your favorite apps and devices,” the social network explains.
Quite prominently, the new Messenger sees an integration with Instagram, allowing Messenger users to send direct messages to instagram account owners.
Facebook’s trailer also showcases vanish mode, where messages disappear after being seen or after you exit a chat, as well as new selfie stickers. In addition, support for third-party AR effects will arrive beginning 2021.
