Suicide Squad’s Harley Quinn has, without a doubt, become one of the most common Halloween costume ideas in recent years—so much so that the trope is being ridiculed in Adam Sandler’s slapstick Halloween film with Netflix, Hubie Halloween.
While the dime-a-dozen getups are easily forgotten, one of these cosplays has, unfortunately, been too glaring for a network to ignore. 7 News anchor Alaina Pinto, who cameoed as one of several Harley Quinn costume-wearing reporters, has shared that she was fired as a result of her appearance in the horror-comedy.
Taking to social media, Pinto announced that she had “mistakenly violated” her contract with the network. “I understand why management unfortunately chose to terminate me,” she added.
The reporter said she was “deeply disappointed and saddened” that she was let go, but reflected that it was “an honor and a privilege” to have been able to report the news to audiences.
Pinto remained hopeful and concluded that “the future is bright.”
Naturally, audiences have sympathized with the news anchor. “I’d violate a contract to be in an Adam Sandler film, too,” one responds.
Many others have wished her all the best for her future pursuits. Commending her stellar work on television, one viewer writes, “I agree that your future is bright, good luck to you going forward in business and in life.”

Earlier this week I was let go from 7 News. I am posting this because I want to be open and honest with all of you. Last year, I participated in a cameo in the recently released Netflix movie by Adam Sandler, "Hubie Halloween". (1/3)
Thanks to all my wonderful 7 News viewers and my supportive and great colleagues at the station. Reporting the news to you every morning was an honor and a privilege. I promise to stay in touch and keep you updated on the next chapter - the future is bright! (3/3)
