Anne Hathaway has taken to Instagram to share a BTS photo of the highly-anticipated Roald Dahl film adaptation, The Witches.
She showed off her Grand High Witch look from her makeup chair, which also revealed the inspiration behind some of the epic looks Hathaway will be rocking in the upcoming film.
Viewers got a glimpse of the mood board for many of the character’s looks—including an inspiration from Gigi Hadid’s shoot and other classic icons. A shot of Hadid rocking a blue wig on the cover of Vogue Italia magazine in 2015 happened to be a contributing factor to Hathaway’s bold look in the movie.
Another image that was an inspiration for the evil character was Mariyln Monroe, whose signature coiffed blonde hair seemed to be a strong thread to the Grand High Witch’s wardrobe. Other images included an old Vogue magazine cover to nail Hathaway’s look.
“Resting witch face,” Hathaway captioned her shot, with a beehive hairdo and dramatic makeup—including black lips and prosthetic scars on the corners of her mouth.
