Jony Ive, the driving force behind some of Apple’s most quintessential products, such as the iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, has teamed up with Airbnb to create future products and carry out some of its hiring processes.
The vacation rental giant’s co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky made the announcement on Wednesday,
explaining that the company will work with the former Apple chief design officer and the crew at Ive’s independent firm, LoveFrom, to “design the next generation of Airbnb products and services” as well as help advance Airbnb’s internal design team.
“Jony and I have been good friends for many years, and he has been gracious enough to provide me with guidance and advice,” Chesky described. “We share the same belief in the value and importance of creativity and design.”
The collaboration will be a multi-year endeavor, Airbnb’s CEO added.
In 2019, Ive left Apple after almost three decades at the company to start
his own design studio. LoveFrom presently consists of designers, artists, architects, engineers, writers, and musicians.
Apple continues to be one of Ive’s clients, revealing last year that LoveFrom will “work closely” with the Cupertino tech giant “on a range of projects with Apple.”
