President Donald Trump’s daughter and son-in-law have become the faces of a couple of billboard ads at New York City’s Times Square tying them to the nation’s nearly 225,000 coronavirus deaths.
The huge prints feature photos of Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner alongside the United States’ total COVID-19 death tolls. The two are pictured with the quote, reading, “[New Yorkers] are going to suffer and that’s their problem.”
The banners were put up by The Lincoln Project, a committee of former Republicans against Trump’s reelection.
The group later went on Twitter and shared a letter claiming to be from Marc Kasowitz, a lawyer representing the White House officials.
The note declared that the ads are “fake, malicious and defamatory,” and prompted the group to take them down immediately. “If these billboard ads are not immediately removed, we will sue you for what will doubtless be enormous compensatory and punitive damages,” the letter read.
The Lincoln Project shared its statement on Twitter, emphasizing that it would not take down the ads despite the “empty threats” the group has received.

Jared and Ivanka have always been entitled, out-of-touch bullies who have never given the slightest indication they have any regard for the American people.

We plan on showing them the same level of respect.
