A whopping contrast to its
typically snarky campaigns against McDonald’s, Burger King is choosing to be the bigger person (bur-son?) by directing patrons to support its rival.
To help out a workforce threatened by the strains of the
COVID-19 crisis, Burger King France is asking regulars to frequent other food businesses to prevent job cuts. The wholesome letter, entitled “Order from McDonald’s,” requests that customers support other restaurants and their employees safely by ordering home delivery, takeout, or through a drive-thru, during this difficult time.
“Restaurants employing thousands of staff really need your support at the moment,” the note stresses, though Burger King France also expresses surprise at having to ever create this ad.
The unusually magnanimous campaign concludes, “Getting a Whopper is always best, but ordering a Big Mac is also not such a bad thing.”
