The popularity of Nintendo’s video game Animal Crossing skyrocketed this year amid the coronavirus pandemic as people live out their virtual lives in customized dreamscapes.
The fame of the video game even prompted fashion labels like Marc Jacobs and Sandy Liang to release limited edition Summer/Spring and pre-Fall digital collections for players to dress up and strut across the islands.
Now, luxury retailer Net-a-Porter has jumped on the bandwagon and launched its first digital island for gamers to experience some retail therapy in the digital realm.
The island is created in collaboration with creative agency WeSuperseed and visual artist Kara Chung—who also launched the Instagram account @animalcrossingfashionarchive to document fashionable looks within the game.
The retailer’s in-game island includes the Able Sisters shop, where players can try on the exclusive A/W 2020 Isabel Marant capsule collection.
Besides being a shopping paradise, Net-a-Porter’s island also treats visitors to a relaxing getaway with a picnic area, a hot spring bath, a gym, and a meditation area, and a flower garden.
Here’s a glimpse of the stylish island.
