In celebration of Toy Story’s 25th anniversary, Pixar has released some early concept art of the movie that will make you feel nostalgic.
The concept art images revealed sketches of the fan-favorite characters like Woody, Buzz and Rex. While some characters remained true to the drawings, others ended up looking much different than the original sketches.
The creators of the show unveiled how Woody was originally sketched. The final character saw Woody looking the same, except that they added on a cowboy hat and his necktie ended up looking a little smaller in the end.
The noticeable difference was Buzz Lightyear as early sketches of him that Pixar previously published showed him in an entirely different spacesuit with a smug expression. His name too changed over time, from Lunar Larry to Buzz Lightyear.
The dinosaur toy Rex too sported a much terrifying look than the final version. The drawing showed Rex having razor-sharp teeth and claws. The creators too managed to draw its worried expression, which was perfectly executed in the final film.
Pixar also released a 25th anniversary illustration portraying the show’s most famous characters—from Woody to RC the sports car.
