Zoox, a self-driving car company acquired by Amazon in June, has unveiled a robotaxi that can run day and night on a single charge.
The autonomous “carriage-style” vehicle is an electric four-wheeler that seats up to four people. At just 3.63 meters long, the mint-green vehicle is bidirectional and comes equipped with two battery packs that generate enough power for the vehicle to run for 16 hours before its next charge.
Its interior features two facing benches and no steering wheel. It has a top speed of 75 miles per hour and comes with useful features such as wieless charges for smartphones.
It also features a personal control panel to set the music and air conditioning, per the company’s website. There is also a touchscreen at each seat for passengers to check on arrival time, location, and route. Zoox also added that its vehicle is able to handle maneuvers like “tight curbside pickups” and “tricky U-turns.”
Currently, the company is testing prototypes of its self-driving vehicle in San Francisco and Foster City in California, as well as in Las Vegas, Nevada.
