To thank fans for coming through during this trying year, Samsung has released a short film that’s undeniably reminiscent of Pixar films.
The animation, an advertisement touting Samsung’s Exynos processors, stars an elderly man, John Williams, who’s like the alternate-reality version of Carl Frederickson from Up. The freshly-retired John is stumped on what to do with the rest of his life, so he gets a little help from his Samsung phone.
Viewers are introduced to a second character, the Exynos chip personified, who takes the senior on a post-retirement journey.
Samsung neglected to name its muse, but it has penned a heartwarming letter to users who’ve stuck with the company during troubling times.
“To all of you, especially our fans that have waited patiently and supported us, we offer a heartfelt thank you,” the Exynos team wrote in the video’s description. “We hope this story will bring you a warm smile and that you have a happy holiday with family, friends and loved ones. #ThankYou again for all you have done for us. Stay tuned for more stories.”
