British footwear brand Dr Martens has teamed up with the Keith Haring Foundation to create a range of unique boots that pay homage to the great artist.
The shoe brand has remixed the 1460 boot as well as two of its 1461 silhouettes with striking illustrations that honor Haring’s popular art style. The 1460 boot is made of leather with black graphic detailing Haring’s fun cartoon-like sketches and figures on the uppers. A bold colorful figure is plastered on the heel, contrasting the overall monochromatic look of the boot.
For the 1461 models, they are both embellished with Haring’s famous designs. One of them pays homage to his iconic figure “radiant baby,” featuring a white bold line of an angel with outstretched wings while the second model features an all-over print—an instantly recognizable illustration of Haring’s.
“As part of a series of collaborations with radical artists, DM’s are shining a spotlight on Haring’s legendary artwork. The New York-based artist’s colorful, cartoonish graphics were deep-rooted in social activism,” according to a statement on Dr. Martens’ website. “His publicly-minded pieces questioned authority whilst being accessible and upbeat. There was always more than met the eye.”
The Dr. Martens x Keith Haring collection will be available for purchase on 22 January on the Dr. Martens’ website in adult and kids’ sizes.
