While plain boxes won’t necessarily spark joy, Marie Kondo’s much-anticipated home organization collection with The Container Store likely will. The new The Container Store x KonMari storage pieces aren’t just for reducing clutter, but they’re also aesthetically pleasing and built to last for years.
The collaboration sees more than 100 minimalist, sustainably-sourced homeware pieces—spanning woven rattan bins, bamboo drawers and metal hangers—that are thoughtfully designed and versatile enough for any living space or home office.
The hangers, for example, “help clothes keep their shape and won’t create creases or peaky shoulders,” while the storage baskets were lovingly handwoven by traditional Japanese artisans to turn out “as strong as they are beautiful.”
“If you tidy your space, you can transform your life,” Kondo reiterated. “The secret is to keep only what sparks joy – and to give these things at home. From handwoven baskets and elegant hangers to Japanese-inspired drawer organizers, this collection was designed to hold your cherished items and elevate your everyday routine.”
“I hope these versatile and sustainable storage solutions help you maintain a tidy home – and make room for what matters the most in your life,” said the host of Netflix’s Emmy award-winning show Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.
Kondo’s favorite pieces happen to be from the Shoji collection, which “takes into considering my Japanese heritage,” she told Apartment Therapy. “It has a very traditional motif of Shoji screens that are used as partitions or sliding doors.” Among them is a bamboo storage bin with a cotton liner, shown above.
Cleaning up your space doesn’t just involve discarding the things that no longer spark joy. Sometimes, it’s also about taking care of your most beloved items and safekeeping them in useful yet visually cohesive storage units.
