It never feels nice to say no to your dog who’s been eyeing your snacks. Luckily for human and furry companions alike, pups can now have their ice cream and eat it too. Ben & Jerry’s has rolled out an array of frozen desserts for dogs, and is even hooking them up with some swag.
The new ‘Doggie Desserts’ are made with ingredients existing in Ben & Jerry’s ice creams, but swap the dairy for a sunflower butter base to be easier on canine stomachs, CNBC reports.
Currently, the selection consists of Pontch’s Mix, which features peanut butter with a pretzel swirl, and Rosie’s Batch, which contains pumpkin and mini cookies. In time, Ben & Jerry’s hopes to expand the collection.
The flavors are named after the pets of Ben & Jerry’s employees. Pontch is a small male Frenchie bulldog, while Rosie is a female Doberman-Husky rescue dog. They’re so different in appearance because the company hopes to celebrate “good doggie diversity.”
Lindsay Bumps, Ben & Jerry’s global marketing specialist, said the Doggie Desserts are a “passion project” of the company, whose headquarters is pet-friendly. She shared her wish for both pet owners and their dogs to be able to enjoy ice cream side-by-side.
On top of that, Ben & Jerry’s will also be launching toys and merchandise for dogs, including an ice cream cone plushie and tie-dye leash.
The Doggie Desserts can now be purchased at US$2.99 for individual four-ounce mini cups and US$4.99 for four-packs.
