Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) has released its Australian Lamb’s annual summer campaign, and it is as cheeky as ever.
The clip features a tongue-in-cheek take on border closures and state divisions during the coronavirus pandemic. Titled Make Lamb, Not Walls, the spot is set in 2031 where division between states has escalated to greater heights. Giant border walls separate each state and territory from one another, as seen in the video.
However, when a crack appears, the aroma of a perfectly cooked piece of lamb on one side of the wall seems too much for Australians to resist, so they decide to smash through it and reunite over food.
“As a brand that celebrates unity and the power of of coming together, this year in the ad, we wanted to remind Australians that we are always stronger together,” MLA domestic market manager Graeme Yardy said. “Our hope for 2021 will be that the virtual get-togethers of the last 12 months, will be replaced with an Aussie Lamb barbie, the most unifying, and delicious meal of all.”
