H&M has joined forces with Lee to create a line of sustainable denim collection that is set to release in February.
The capsule collection is said to be made from 100-percent recycled cotton jeans. It also features water-saving dyes as well as lower-impact denim washes. Labels on the jeans will also be animal-free, and made from cork and jacron—a washable kraft paper material.
The sustainable denim collection will feature womenswear, menswear and kidswear, and it boasts oversized silhouettes and shapes that are inspired by “Lee’s esteemed heritage.”
Expect to see jackets, dungarees and denim corsets for the women’s collection. The men’s offering will include workwear jackets, relaxed-fit jeans and denim bucket hats.
Aside from the collaboration, H&M will also share the stages of design and production on its website. Its life-cycle assessment data will show the water, CO2, and energy impact of each garment, from raw material to the end product.
According to H&M’s global sustainability manager, Pascual Brun, “The Lee x H&M collaboration clearly shows our efforts in making fashion sustainable and transparent. From the use of materials to water saving methods, we are pushing the boundaries and opening our doors for how you can design and produce denim garments.”
The Lee x H&M collection is set to drop in stores and online on 4 February.
