McDonald’s Spain has partnered up with TBWA/Spain to spotlight romance in the time of COVID-19.
The advertisement, which also features its drive-thru McAuto service, follows a boy named Sebas, who is mesmerized by a McDonald’s employee Alicia at the drive-thru. He has the butterflies after thinking that Alicia has given him a free bag of fries with his takeout.
The spot shows Sebas and Alicia both in masks, acknowledging that it is still set in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
Sebas finds himself returning to the drive-thru every day, and decides to summon the courage to ask Alicia out on a date. Unfortunately, he is heartbroken when he finds out that the special side of fries is part of a promotion given to every customer.
However, Alicia wishes for him to come to the drive-thru again, hinting that she might just have a crush on him too. The end of the spot leaves an impression that the two of them might eventually get together.
