To tackle the concerning prevalence of insomnia during these times of stressful news, health creative agency The Bloc has partnered with Rockwell Ventures to launch Scrollaby—an app that uses social media against itself to curb your nightly scrolling behavior.
Scrollaby aims to combat ‘doom scrolling’, which causes many people to sleep late at night due to endless scrolling on phones before bed. The app aims to fill the user’s social feed with digital lullaby to help you get off the endless nighttime scroll.
The app is designed to mimic the familiar scrolling mechanic of social media to present specially-created content such as stories, visual meditations and sounds that relax the body and mind, preparing the user for sleep. Some of the techniques used are HRV breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and autogenic training.
Once users launch the app, they will be met with a randomized feed of content, each providing an unique experience. When they find content they enjoy, they can save it as a favorite, allowing they to both explore new imagery and return to the comfortable.
Scrollaby is available to download on the App Store.
