Serena Williams slayed in her striking catsuit as she won her first match at the Australian Open.
The tennis star marched to victory in her statement outfit, which featured a one-legged catsuit with black, red, pink, and blue trim around the neckline and the back.
She completed the look with a blue headband, pink sweatbands, and accessories. The asymmetric ensemble was designed by Nike, and according to Williams, it was a tribute to the late American sprinter Florence Griffith Joyner.
“I was inspired by Flo-Jo, who was a wonderful track athlete when I was growing up,” Williams said. “Watching her fashion, just always changing. Her outfits were always amazing,” she told reporters, per Insider.
Joyner was known for her bold one-legged looks, and when Nike ran the idea with Williams, she immediately agreed to it.
“That’s where we started. We change and tweak it. It became this,” she added.
