How does a popular video game, sometimes a chore, and a human—stuck in the middle of an enclosed spot at home—possibly hindered with JoyCon drift in tow, end up to become a musical?
One Animal Crossing: New Horizons player found out the hard way by reprising another pop-culture favorite, Hamilton, using Animal Crossing characters and furniture. YouTuber Guitar_Knight14 has brought the entirety of Act One into the game and is working on the second.
Fans of the game would know that a feat like this will take a great deal of effort. Not only is collecting the right furniture and outfits a time-consuming process, each facial expression must also be simulated manually. In fact, Act One apparently took the player seven months to complete.
As for Act Two, the YouTuber has already recreated What’d I Miss?, Cabinet Battle #1, Take A Break, Say No to This, The Room Where it Happens, and Schuyler Defeated. This means there might be 17 more tracks to go before HAMILTON: An Animal Crossing Musical comes to a conclusion.
Hamilton fans will undoubtedly be waiting in the wings for more—but just you wait, just you wait.
In the meantime, see how closely the fan remake Act One matches with the original in Hamilton, which is now available to stream on Disney+. You can enjoy more recreations of the musical over at the creator’s YouTube channel.
