Ralph Lauren’s womenswear label, Lauren Ralph Lauren, is seeking to tap into changing consumer needs by launching a clothing rental subscription service called The Lauren Look.
Starting at US$125 a month, the subscription allows members to rent different looks from the brand’s most recent collection. After wearing the pieces, members can either replace the items for new garments or purchase them at an exclusive member price.
The 600-piece selection offers a variety of size-inclusive dresses, pants, coats, tops, and more for various occasions. The brand’s new rental model provides customers with an innovative way to experience, engage, and ultimately shop the brand.
“The Lauren Look allows us to explore an entirely new model tapping into the growing focus on the sharing economy and revolutionizing how we look at fashion consumption,” said David Lauren, chief innovation and branding officer.
According to the New York Post, customers can browse the site and place 10 or more of their favorite items in the website’s virtual fashion closet. The brand will then ship four items from the virtual fashion closet to them. When the customer returns the goods, a new delivery will be shipped to them.
Recycling clothing will enable Ralph Lauren to cut down on waste and extend the use of its garments. The pieces are also part of a special after-use program; once the clothes have reached their rental caps, they will be donated to Delivering Good, a non-profit organization supporting people affected by poverty and tragedy.
Subscriptions to The Lauren Look are now available through a dedicated platform, exclusively in North America.
