Jamie Chung made a serious statement through her ensemble on the red carpet.
The actress turned up at the 2021 SAG Awards wearing a red off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta mini dress and lace-up heels. The most eye-catching part of her ensemble was the coordinating clutch she carried, which featured the words, “Stop Asian Hate” in gold writing.
Chung took to Instagram to share more details about her look and the pride she feels for her Korean heritage. The actress wrote, “In some Asian cultures, the color red symbolizes joy, luck, and happiness. In Korean culture, it symbolizes creation, passion, and power. I’m so proud of my history and heritage.”
Chung’s crimson handbag is a rallying cry to condemn racism and highlight the horrific rise in hate crimes against Asian-Americans, including the 16 March shootings at three Atlanta-area spas that killed eight people, six of whom were Asian women.
