Luxury automotive brand Genesis lit up its path into China, quite literally. Marking its foray into the Chinese market, the Hyundai-owned brand broke the Guinness World Record by lighting up the sky with the most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in the air at the same time.
Using 3,281 drones, it put on a choreographed display of the Genesis emblem with the Shanghai skyline as its backdrop to commemorate its launch in China.
The light show also celebrated notable achievements of Chinese technology, such as the Beidou satellite system and China’s space station.
This tops the previous record holder, Shenzhen Damoda Intelligent Control Technology, which flew 3,051 drones at the same time in September 2020. Tech giant Intel had previously claimed the record in 2018 with 2,066 drones flying over Folsom, California.
Don’t expect these drone shows to stop anytime soon, as companies come up with more extravagant displays and intricate choreographies to outdo one another in a bid to wow consumers.
