Airing on television during an NCAA Final Four game, a Google advertisement hit many people harder than expected.
Using search terms, business listings, calendar events, and maps, ‘Get Back To What You Love’ expertly conveys transitioning from lockdown into a post-COVID world.
Based on a previous Google advertisement from 2009, this one tells a story of how we’re finally returning to normal after a long, arduous lockdown.
Seeing virtual meetings, weddings, and parties turn into “non-virtual” ones, and businesses changing their listings from “temporarily closed” to “open”, it really does feel like the world may be emerging from its year-long hiatus.
Just when you’re reaching for the tissues, the final search term “covid vaccine near me” reminds you and your loved ones to get vaccinated. This simple but poignant advertisement is both an amusing and important reminder that the dark clouds may just be parting soon.
Absolutely furious that a Google ad made me tear up. pic.twitter.com/yNMHW7jiYr
