With everyone getting ready for the summer, Everlane has launched its first-ever swimwear collection. The popular eco-friendly clothing brand has unveiled a line of premium-quality swimwear made from recycled fabric.
Everlane’s CEO Kimberley Smith told Elle that the brand had been working on the swimwear line since 2018, but didn’t want to “compromise on the quality or the environmental impact.”
The pieces are made of 82% recycled fabrics, and Everlane hopes to eventually get that number up to 100%.
Instead of letting plastic end up in the oceans, Everlane has managed to turn it into premium swimsuits. “Being able to take plastic waste out of the ocean and landfills and turn it into something beautiful is something we’re really proud of,” Smith added.
In line with Everlane’s other offerings, its new swimsuits are minimalist and sleek. To get the right fit for all body types, the Everlane team had them fitted on 112 various body shapes and sizes. The team told Elle that it obsessed over the details, making sure the clasps would stay flush against the skin, and that the removable padding would be minimal yet supporting. Comfort was the top priority.
The collection features seven pieces that come in sizes XXS – XXL. The color palette is quintessentially summer, with sage greens, reds, and yellows to brighten up any summer’s day. Plus, the prices are truly as “radical” as the Everlane team promised; bottoms start at just US$30.
