Google, the arguable overlord of the interwebs, has been working around the clock to make life on the web a lot more convenient and productive. Not only has it created shortcut links to let you craft documents right away, but it has also now added a little trick to help you look things up just a tad quicker.
This week, Google Search announced on its website that by entering “/” on a results page on the desktop website, your cursor will “jump to the search box” so you can edit your query or look up something new.
The shortcut only works when you’re already on a results page, and isn’t triggered when you’re on the homepage. The typing cursor also appears at the back of your search terms with this prompt, suggesting that the tool is designed particularly for tweaking keywords rather than starting new searches.
Nevertheless, the quick trick ensures you won’t have to drag your mouse up and click on the text field to make another search. It’s still pretty efficient in our books.
The nifty feature officially rolled out on Thursday, so you should be able to use it now.
Am I noticing this really late or did @Google just add this nice little shortcut prompt to help improve the search experience? pic.twitter.com/l7QSScAPHh
