There’s a 7-Eleven at almost every corner of Japanese neighborhoods, which means—amid the countless mundane trips made to the convenience store each day—it is bound to have seen its fair share of endearing encounters.
The chain envisions beautiful moments out of normalcy with a compelling animated mini series called Rainbow Finder. Sure, the three short episodes in the project are somewhat advertisements for the store, but their visual and storytelling aspects are on the next level.
That’s because the anime was produced by The Answer Studio, the makers behind international hit animation film Kimi no Na Wa (Your Name) and directed by former Walt Disney Animation Japan animator Hiroshi Kawamata, per Time Out Japan.
The two-minute shorts are linked to a small extent but can be viewed separately.
The first video introduces high school student Nanami, an aspiring photographer following in the footsteps of her late father. She appears to capture meaningful moments in the subsequent episodes.
In the second video, the friendship between classmates Akira and Toru blossoms amid preparations for their exams. Finally, the third episode sees the characters graduating, and a romance ensues.
Of course, 7-Eleven is a connecting theme between the three films, and it makes its presence known either through a setting or by showcasing appetizing foods available at its outlets.
View the episodes below. While there are no English subtitles, the visuals should create enough cues for international viewers to grasp the plot.
