This week, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos announced that his space venture, Blue Origin, will soon begin selling tickets for rides to space.
While most details have been kept hush-hush, you can now sign up to learn how to buy the first seats on New Shepard – its recently tested capsule and rocket – with more information coming May 5.
Blue Origin’s promotional video shows Bezos driving an electric truck across the test facility in West Texas to meet with the New Shepard crew right after its test landing.
The firm had tested a New Shepard crew capsule attached to a New Shepard rocket in the desert. The capsule managed to reach an estimated 350,000 feet, before landing with the help of three giant parachutes.
Although the test flight didn’t have any passengers on board, it seems Blue Origin is ready to carry its first customers into space soon.
According to the Observer, the crew capsule features huge windows that’ll allow passengers to have a panoramic view of Earth during the flight. On the way back down, they’ll also be able to experience 10 minutes of weightlessness just like a real astronaut.
No word regarding the possible price of the New Shepard flight has been released yet. Fingers crossed that a lot more details will be available on May 5. For more information or to register your interest, visit the Blue Origin site here.
