When Disney bought over 20th Century Fox Television, no one would have seen coming what it’d do to The Simpsons. As it turns out, a Star Wars spoof. The two worlds have surprisingly collided into a short commemorating Star Wars Day, which falls annually on May 4.
The short film, entitled Maggie Simpson in ‘The Force Awakens From Its Nap’, will be one of a handful of offerings debuting on Star Wars Day. Its teaser artwork is enough to appease audiences; it pays homage to all three trilogies using Simpsons-style illustrations.
The short is based in “a daycare far, far away… but still in Springfield,” Disney+ describes. It follows Maggie on a search for her stolen pacifier, but before she uncovers it, she’ll have to inevitably come face to face with the Dark Side first.
Elsewhere, Disney+ will also premiere the long-awaited Star Wars: The Bad Batch animation; Star Wars Biomes, a “virtual vacation” to Star Wars locations; and Star Wars Vehicle Flythroughs, an up-close look at Millennium Falcon and an Imperial Star Destroyer. All new Star Wars offerings, including The Simpsons short, will be available to stream on May 4 at 12am PT.
Disney+ is just barely scratching the surface of what could be a whole bevy of crossovers. In time, the streaming service intends to pay creative tribute to its belt of brands and titles, Deadline reports.
