At its I/O keynote earlier this week, Google unveiled new features coming to Google Photos. One of the biggest changes: you will soon get password-protected photos.
The tech firm is introducing a Locked Folder for your photos, so you can keep secret images hidden behind a locked password or biometric authentication.
This password protection feature will first launch on Pixel devices and will be expanded to other Android devices in the following months.
If you’re a Pixel user, you’ll have it one step easier and be able to save photos directly to the Locked Folder right from the camera app, explains Google.
The company has also acknowledged that most people take a few shots to capture a moment perfectly. Now, Cinematic Photos will ensure your extras don’t go to waste, as Google Photos will recognize similar images and stitch them together automatically to create animations you can look back on.
Users will also be able to remove memories from their Google Photos folders. If there’s someone you’d rather not see every time you open the app, you’ll be able to decide which pictures to remove from your memories, or to block out a certain time period altogether.
It’s about time Google lets users have more control over how they view their photos, making this update a very welcomed one.
