These days, it’s not surprising to hear that a new cryptocurrency has launched. But $CHANGE is a little different – it’s a cryptocurrency that hopes to change the world.
Using the Binance Smart Chain, it hopes to bring together “crypto humanitarians,” those who are interested in exploring cryptocurrency but also want to do good.
Within the first 24 hours of its launch, $CHANGE raised over US$130,000, which was donated towards the planting of 10,000 trees for the relief for Australian bushfires, as per Input.
Similar to other cryptocurrencies, $CHANGE can be purchased and sold at PancakeSwap, a cryptocurrency exchange used by up-and-coming tokens. How it differs, though, is that $CHANGE includes a 10% fee for every transaction.
1% of the fee goes to holders of the cryptocurrency to incentivize them to continue investing in the token. Then, 55% of the remaining pool will be set aside for donations daily.
For now, $CHANGE is donating through the Binance Charity Foundation, run by cryptocurrency exchange Binance. Every week, $CHANGE’s creators live-stream on YouTube while they make the donation, so holders will be aware of where their transaction fees are going towards.
“Our most ambitious goal is to have our community donate so much and so quickly that the Binance Charity Foundation runs out of social causes to support. At this point, we will then move our focus to external charities outside of the Binance Smart Chain ecosystem,” $CHANGE said.
