Balenciaga isn’t one to shy away from logo parodies, and this time, in celebration of Pride, it’s turned the classic Gap logo hoodie into a “Gay” one.
Presented in an oversized look, the pink hoodie is anything but subtle, wearing its support for the LGBTQ+ community on its sleeve.
Apart from the hoodie, Balenciaga is also slated to launch matching hats and t-shirts next month, all donning the parody ‘Gay’ logo.
According to Input, the fashion house has said that 15% of its profits from the Pride capsule will go towards The Trevor Project, a leading organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ persons under the age of 25.
“It’s important to push through against homophobia. I’m not someone who goes out in the street and shouts. But this is the political fashion activism that I can do,” said Demna Gvasalia, the brand’s Creative Director.
Instead of the usual runway pictures, the capsule’s campaign images were shot at iconic places around the world, displaying a sense of solidarity for the Pride movement.
We’re betting the hoodie is going to be one of the most popular Pride launches this year, with the capsule slated to launch in early June.
