Kinfolk, the cover face of minimalism, is growing with its fans and has launched a magazine for parents, aptly called Kindling.
Despite being described as a “new magazine for people with children,” Kindling isn’t directly for grownups or their kids, but it strikes a thoughtful balance between the two. The tone is child-friendly while the content speaks to adults.
This isn’t your regular Kinfolk coffee table lifestyle magazine. The publication gets in touch with its naive wild child and conveys it through bold colors and silly illustrations, all while maintaining its stylistic flair.
As detailed by AIGA Eye on Design, plans for the parent-focused magazine go all the way back to 2016, when Kinfolk spotted the name of a fatherhood magazine named Kindling Quarterly and something… kindled. Kinfolk then bought the rights for the name.
The pandemic created a delay in the making of this new lineage. During this time, much of Kinfolk’s team were transitioning into parenthood and came to be more in tune with the needs of parents.
The first issue, The Emotions Issue, features interviews and ideas for easy and fun activities, “from forest schools to pillow forts.” Find out more here.
